Claiborne County stabbing leads to attempted murder charge

A reported stabbing of a 52-year-old man occurred shortly after midnight at Catdaddy’s gas station on Broad Street in Tazewell. Tazewell Police and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department responded; the victim was taken to Covenant Hospital and then flown to UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Police Chief Jeremy Myers says 41-year-old Billy J Walton was booked into the Claiborne County Jail and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
