Treasury sanctions Iranian hackers tied to critical breaches

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned five Iranian citizens on Monday over alleged cyberattacks and theft targeting U.S. critical infrastructure, government offices, and digital assets. Treasury accused four named individuals of participating in a hacking operation directed by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security, including breaches of U.S. energy, defense, health care, technology, and financial organizations since late 2023.
