Treasury sanctions Iranian hackers over critical-infra breaches

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned five Iranian citizens on Monday for alleged cyberattacks and theft targeting U.S. critical infrastructure, government offices, and digital assets. Treasury accused four named individuals of participating in a hacking operation directed by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security, including breaches of energy, defense, healthcare, technology, and financial institutions since late 2023.
