Hurricane Karina is becoming a Pacific hurricane well away from land and is forecast to strengthen into a major storm. Even with the storm staying offshore, the hurricane center said swells are likely to bring dangerous surf and rip current conditions along parts of southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula.
