China-Russia conduct first joint Arctic sea ice survey

China and Russia carried out their first joint on-site sea ice survey in the Arctic Ocean aboard the Xuelong 2 research icebreaker. Two researchers from Russia’s Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute boarded for China’s 16th Arctic Ocean Expedition, with the survey led by Xuelong 2’s sea ice team captain Lin Long.
