Summary: Lockheed built 188 S-3 Viking aircraft for the US Navy to find and kill Soviet submarines from aircraft carriers, but the Soviet Union collapsed before any crew recorded a submarine kill. The aircraft were instead used to destroy Iraqi Silkworm missile sites and hit Iraqi naval vessels, coastal radars, and anti-aircraft guns, plus tanker sorties over Afghanistan.
