The Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism Plus (EJVM+) began its first mission to verify the eastern DRC ceasefire in South Kivu on 24 August. The monitoring mechanism was activated after August talks in Switzerland between the DRC government and Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC)/M23, mediated by Qatar, the US and the African Union.
