Armed men blamed on the ADF killed at least 24 civilians at Cantine-Aloya near Beni, according to local leaders; a monitor counted 35 dead. In the overnight Nov. 6 raid on Cantine-Aloyath village in North Kivu, authorities said at least 33 civilians were killed. Attackers burned a health post and more than 50 houses, forcing villagers and Ebola patients to flee. The patients included one confirmed Ebola case and five suspected cases, three of them high-risk contacts. Beni territorial administrator Colonel Charles Omeonga said the death toll could not yet be established, while local civil society leader Justin Paluku said 33 bodies had been counted. Islamic State-linked militants were also reported to have killed at least 33 civilians.
