Rockville has become Montgomery County’s first Bird City, recognized for habitat restoration, bird-collision prevention and nature education. The city planted about 2,500 native trees and shrubs at RedGate Park, designated 12 forest preserves covering about 335 acres and adopted bird-friendly construction standards. City leaders are scheduled to receive the recognition Dec. 7.
