Summary: Diesel prices rose to an average of $6.40 a gallon nationally, up 9 cents from Wednesday and 73% from a year ago, according to AAA. Regular gasoline averaged $4.44 a gallon after jumping 7 cents overnight, nearing the June 2022 record of $5.02. GasBuddy said New Jersey and Maine broke diesel record highs, bringing the count of states with all-time-high diesel prices to 44.
