Summary: Drone attacks by armed groups in Colombia rose 146% in the first five months of 2026 versus the same period in 2025, according to the Ombudsman’s Office. The attacks killed 21 people and wounded 145, including children, with civilians making up nearly a third of casualties. Ombudsman Iris Marin said the drones’ recurring buzz terrorises communities and that homes, schools, petrol stations and infrastructure were hit.
