Oil rises as tanker attacks and hurricane threaten supply

Oil prices climbed Thursday as Iran stepped up attacks on tankers near the Strait of Hormuz and Hurricane Isaias threatened U.S. Gulf of Mexico production. Brent rose 3.8% to $104.04 a barrel and WTI gained 3.4% to $91.28; nine tankers had been attacked in and around Hormuz over the past week.
